The Hwacheon Sancheoneo Ice Festival, one of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism's designated global festivals, runs on the frozen Hwacheoncheon stream in Hwacheon, Gangwon, from 9 to 31 January 2027 (23 days). Entry to the grounds is free, with paid activities inside: ice fishing was 15,000 won in 2026 with part returned as a local voucher, and a rise for 2027 has been reported.
